Currency Conversion and Tip Calculation for the Holidaymaker
You’re on holiday, looking at the menu about to order dinner wondering "How much is this really going to cost me?"
TouristConverter is a conversion app designed for use by holidaymakers travelling abroad to calculate the price of something in your home currency. Simply enter the price of what you are looking to purchase in the currency of the place you are visiting and it will convert it.
It differs from other converters in that it lets the user enter the exchange rate rather than using internet based commercial rates (which very seldom apply to tourists exchanging their money for foreign travel). Alternatively,it can fetch the exchange rate from the internet (from yahoo finance), with the option to apply a commission percentage to it. This may be useful for instance when using a credit-card and you know the percentage fee that the credit-card company charges on foreign transactions.
In addition, it lets you enter any tips and/or taxes that may apply to the price that is shown and will calculate the respective amounts and of course the totals.
There are more than 25 currencies to select from. To change simply tap the flag icon or symbol of either the foreign currency or your home currency. If a currency combination is selected that has not been used before it will default to a value of “1”, otherwise it will retrieve the values used last time for the particular combination.
This pro version of the app allows entry up to an amount of 99999999 currency units. The free version is restricted to a maximum of 75.
